The aim of this research was to study the relationships between achievement goals, self-efficacy and metacognitive strategies, based on a causal model. To do the study, multistage cluster sampling method was used to select a sample of 685 third grade boy students from Tehran high schools. Motivated Strategies for Learning Questionnaire (Pintrich and De Groot, 1990), and Studentsʹ Achievement Goal Orientation (Midgly and his colleagues, 1997), were administrated to students as a group. Questionnaires validity and reliability were satisfactory. The results of Pearson correlation showed that mutual correlations between achievement goals, self-efficacy and metacognitive strategies components were significant (p< 0/01). Results of structural equating modeling showed that the proposed model was acceptable and fit index wras not significant (GFI= 0/87, ACFI=0.84 RSMEA- 0/058, x2/DF=2.80). All paths or structural coefficients of proposed model were significant (p< 0/01).
