A comparative study of family function of patients with substance use disorders of opioid and families normal individuals

Introduction: The aim of this study was to compare the family function of patients with substance use disorders of opioid and function of normal individuals families. Methods: Two hundred and fourty voulenteers (120 patients, 120 normals) were included in this study. All participants were asked to complete Substance Use Disorders Questionnaire (SUDQ) and Family Assesment Device (FAD). Analysis of the data involved both descriptive and inferential statistics including means, standard deviations, t-tests, pearsonʹs correlation coefficients, and regression analyses. Results: The results revealed significant difference between family function of the patients with substance use disorders of opioid and normal individuals. Conclusion: It was shown that severity of substance use disorders could be predicted by ineffective family characteristics.
