Comparison of morphometric and meristic attributes of Pike (Esox lucius) in Anzali Wetland and Amirkelayeh Wetland

Morphometric and meristic specification of Esox lucius of the Anzali Wetland (30) and Amirkelayeh Wetland (30) was studied in the year 2003. For this purpose, 43 morphometric attributes, 13 meristic attributes and 36 specifications in relation to the proportions of especially of morphometric attributes of the Esox lucius were evaluated from the two habitats. ANOVA, factor and discriminate function analyses were conducted on the data. According to results the average coefficient of variation in morphometric, meristic and proportion of specialty of morph metric attributes for Esox lucius Anzali Wetland and Amirkelayeh Wetland was 24.22, 8.12 and 9.36 and for Esox lucius of Anzali Wetland and Amirkelayeh Wetland was 11.19, 9.23 and 16.79.The Esox lucius of the two areas showed meaningful differences in 40 morphometric factors, 4 meristic factors and 18 factor of proportion of the specialty of the age had significant differences (P>0.05). Factor analysis showed that the Esox lucius of the two habitats had 83.14% of changes in 6 factors of first morphometric attributes, 63.14% of changes in the 4 factors of the first proportion of morphometric specialties and 73.37% of changes in the 12 factors of the first meristic attribute. The first two factors of proportion of specialty of morphometric and attributes causes total separation of two populations. We found different in morphometeric specialties between the two specialties of morphometric and meristic attributes. It is suggested that different environmental conditions have led to the differences in the populations of the fish the Anzali Wetland and Amirkelayeh Wetland.
