Comparative Study of Necessary Substructure for the Implementation Knowledge Management (KM) Integrative System (Case Study)

Today, organizations have to pay much attention to KM in order to survive and continue their presence in the era of competition. Taking it for granted that the concern for KM in every organization is a competitive obligation , it is important for the organizations to see whether they have the needed substructures or not. This article, after dealing with the characteristics of knowledge age, identifies six necessary substructures for implementing an integrated KM system(organization strategy, organizational institutions, human resources, financing, communication and information technology and organizational culture) based on OECD cooperative organization perspective, and adopts these six substructures as a basis for comparison. Then, experiences of successful companies in U.S. and Spain are elaborated. Due to lack of necessary data and the fact that the Iranian companies are still at the threshold of KM implementation, only an example of a successful issue in Iran is explained. At the end of the research, on the basis of the six substructures, all common factors and issues are identified to utilize and implement KM concept in different industries effectively.
