In many transmitted invocations and prayers from Impeccable Imams, there are found expressions as to their committing sins. This is inconsistent with our belief in their impeccability. Why the prophets and purified Imams have attributed committing sins to themselves, asking for Godʹs forgiveness and recanting. To answer this question, some explanations have been offered. The proper answer is accordingly as follows: human being has existential ranks and dimensions. He focuses on one or another dimension in different situations, neglecting others. As for the prophets and the Impeccable Imams, when they pay attention to their own origin, that is a trivial one, they would complain to God that ʹI am the very trivial being and all perfections and blessings belong to you.ʹ When they focus on their animal rank, however, they would say ʹOh, God! You granted me the impeccability rank and protected me from committing sins and rebellion; if it was not for your favor, I would be enslaved by evil temptations.ʹ Finally, when they look at their inherent poverty, they would see God as the source of all perfections and possessions, saying ʹOh, God!
