Human being in Search for Perfection

In the present paper, the motivation for seeking perfection has been discussed as one of the essential motivations in human being. To do so, firstly, we have dealt with studying the meaning of perfection, and then stating its various related theoretical views. In the next stage, to explain the acceptable theory, what is resulted from the discussion on human status in the existential system and a review of the related traditions and Quranic verses is that human being enjoys a special status among creatures; for he has widespread scientific and practical talents and capacities whose actualization leads to his being deserved for divine vicegerency, trust and responsibility. Humanʹs final goal in the practical dimension is achieving the position of "sincere servitude" or ʹubudiyyat; and in the scientific dimension, his goal is to achieve immediate knowledge and intuitional knowledge of God. The meeting point of humanʹs theoretical and practical perfection is the "divine proximity" achieved through his optional virtuous actions, resulted from his faith and accompanied by piety. Therefore, the reality of divine proximity is some sort of existential intensity through which man finds himself in presence of his God with an conscious immediate knowledge and with self-intuition and complete dependence; and this is the apex of human perfection.
