Comparing Social Prestige of Police from the Viewpoints of 8 Retiree-to-be Staff and Other Staff

This study aims to investigate the social prestige of retiree-to-be staff and to determine the changing trend of social prestige of police from the viewpoints of the rookie personnel, retiree-to-be staff, and other staff members. To this end, using the cluster sampling method, 614 subjects from NAJA personnel in Tehran were selected and responded to the research tools. Results indicated that the social prestige of police from the viewpoints of the staff within the age range under 25 years (p=0.000), personnel with age range 26 to 30 years (p=0.000), and staff members with age range 36 to 40 years (p=0.000), and the staff within the age range 41 to 45 years (p=0.000) is higher than medium 50; whereas that of the police from the viewpoints of the staff within the age range 31 to 35 years (p=0.000), and the personnel with age range of 46 to 50 years (p=0.000) is almost medium and not higher. In order to compare the social prestige of police with a view to staffʹs age, the variance analysis test was used. Results suggested that the viewpoints of NAJA personnel on the social prestige of police with a view to the staffs age were different (p=0.004). It is worth noting that the staff within the age range of 31 to 35, as retiree-to-be personnel, put the mean social prestige of police at 54 out of 100; whereas the personnel with the age range of 36 to 40 years of age estimated the social prestige of police at 63 out of 100.
