Investigating the Relationship between Personnelʹs Awareness of Legal Rules and Degree of Observance of Defensive Rights of Defendants (A Case Study on the Personnel of Police Command of Ilam Province)

This article is aimed at identifying type and degree of relationship between observance of defensive rights of defendants and awareness of the personnel at police stations. Overall, results suggest that there is such a direct relation between degree of observance of defensive rights of defendants at the stage of crime detection on the part of personnel at police stations in the city of Hamedan on the one hand, and degree of awareness of these personnel of the legal rules governing method of summoning defendants, making the accusation understood, how to behave toward defendants in custody, method of maintaining defendantsʹ properties and possessions, and keeping defendants under surveillance that an increase in the level of personnelʹs awareness of the legal rules governing defensive rights of defendants causes defensive rights of defendants to be observed more in police stations in the city of Hamedan.
