Annealing time has a profound effect on the homogeneity and solubility of alloying elements in high alloy brasses. Increasing the solubility of alloying elements changes the lattice parameter of the matrix. In the present investigation, samples of CuZn40All in the wrought conditions were annealed at 750°C in a salt bath furnace (SH20/35) for different holding times and then were quenched in water. The annealed and quenched samples were subsequently examined by XRD technique and their lattice parameters were measured using cos26/sin6 function. From diffraction patterns the data of (200), (220) and (222) planes were employed. The results were well consistent with hardness variations in the samples and showed a systematic relationship between annealing times, lattice parameters and solubility of alloying elements. Longer annealing times led to grain growth. Investigation by EDX technique revealed that some precipitates which mainly contain Mn and Si have been formed during annealing.
