چكيده لاتين :
This work was carried out to study the effects of alloying elements and section thickness on the microstructure and mechanical properties of corrosion resistant high silicon alloys. Eight cast iron melts having the same base chemical composition of 14. 5% Si but with addition of different alloying elements including Ca, Cu, Ni, Ti, Mg, Mo, Nb, and Cr were cast. Microstructure and mechanical properties of the samples were studied using standard metallographic techniques. The results showed that presence of 1. 3 % Cu rendered the most uniform distribution of A type graphite flakes in the structures which was only slightly dependent on section thickness. It also improved mechanical properties significantly. The fracture strength of the samples with Cu addition reached 172 MPa which was higher than that of all other samples except that with Cr-Mo addition.
