In the present paper, thermal buckling analysis of composite rectangular multilayered plates under gradual uniform temperature rise is investigated. Nonlinear von Karman strain-displacement equations and layerwise formulations are employed. In contrast to works presented by other researches, the final governing equations are not simplified or linearized. Therefore, no semi-analytic solution is employed to reduce the problem to an eigen value one. The governing equations are solved using the finite element method, a proposed numerical solution scheme, and a modification to Budianskyʹs instability criterion. Incremental temperature increase and iterative techniques are used to predict the buckling temperature. Finally, the present results are compared with the results of the high order and layerwise theories presented by some well-known researchers (which are solved by a conventional algorithm) and the influence of the various parameters of the composite plate on the buckling temperature are studied.
