Territory and Globalization in the Contemporary Middle East with Reference to Tourism

a growing trend of deterritorialization and transnationalization in certain parts of the world, political rules in the Middle East are based on territoriality which refers to the modern ages. Drawing upon a neo-realist perspective, this paper seeks to analyze trends, developments and events in this part of the world and is based on the hypothesis that the role and place of territoriality will last in the region for the years to come in the 21st century. This paper argues that both trends of deterritorialization and reterritorialization will be of less priority in comparison to the classical and modern principles of territoriality in the Middle East. Distinct geographical facts in the Middle East as compared to other parts of the world particularly in the European Union and North America provide the grounds for the permanence and continuity of territoriality in relation to the Middle East equations. While the presence of extra-territorial processes is not negated, reterritorialization will be established by nation-states in this part of the world.
