The Regulations of International Law on Common Border Oil Reservoirs

The International Law on cooperation development in the field of oil resources applies especial regulations on governments. In case of not reaching an agreement, parties involved can try more on cooperation arrangement or act independently and develop oil reservoirs. The bilateral ratified agreements for the limitation of territory in North Sea and Caribbean territory are considerable on this regard. In order to bring closer their varied and sometimes conflict interests, the leaders of territory of the Persian Gulf countries recently have made some efforts for determining the legal framework of the territory. The bilateral procedure of states symbolizes of appearance of regulations in the customary internatioal law. These regulations compel the states to cooperate for development of joint oil reservoir. But experiences in the North Sea and the Persian Gulf show that if the processes of agreement between states fail, the countries involved will employ unilateral actions.
