6. Scrutinizing of Bonus-Malus Systems in Auto Insurance

Most countries make use of merit-rating or bonus-malus systems (BMS) in third party liability automobile insurance. The regulations of countries play a noticeable role in designing bonus-malus systems. Such systems penalize policyholders for fault in accidents by paying surcharges, and reward them in claim-free years by considering discounts in premium. This study, investigates these systems environment in 6 East Asian, 14 European, 2 African and one South American countries, while comparing and contrasting the performance & efficiency of them in Iran with other countries.
