Identifying and Prioritizing the Obstacles for Science Production, as Perceived by Faculty Members of Universities in the Qom Province

The present study is seeking to investigate and identify the obstacles for science production and its prioritizing, as perceived by faculty members of universities in Qom province. Here, with a descriptive method of survey, the faculty members have enumerated the following obstacles: a) motivational, economic, administrative and bureaucratic obstacles; b) obstacles pertaining to scientific and research services; c) personal obstacles pertaining to technical and specialized abilities. The followings have been stated as the most important obstacles respectively: a) laying emphasis on education rather that research; b) no financial supports for authoring, translating and publishing books and articles; c) no good command of English on the part of university professors. The least effective factor here has been considered to be these individualsʹ little familiarity with various methods of scientific research.
