Abu al-Mozaffar Sultan Jahanshah is the best known and most powerful figure in the dynasty of Qaraquyoonloo or "Barani." He ruled over the most parts of Iran for 30 years, in the ninth/fifteenth century. The king was a poet and had "Haqiqi" as his pen-name.
He sent his Divan to the greatest literary personality of the ninth/fifteenth century, Sheikh Abd al-Rahman Jami, to receive a review from him. There are some lines in the Divan of Jami which admire Haqiqiʹs poetry. Unfortunately, the Divan of Haqiqi did not survive, and only scattered poems by him can be found in sources such as Ahsan al-Tawarikh by Hassan Beig Romloo, Hadiqat al-Maʹaref by Shuja-al-Din Korbali, Takmelat al-Akhbar by Ali b. Abd al-Momen, Rawzat al-Salatin by Fakhri Heravi, etc. which depict his poetic talent and mystical insight.
Collecting the scattered poems by Sultan Jahanshah from different sources, the article attempts to introduce him as a gifted poet-king to the scholars of literature and history.
