Steady State Simulation of Methanol Dehydration Using Hysys

Recently, dimethyl ether (DME) has received high attention as a green fuel due to global environment pollution and energy supply problem. DME can be used as a proper alternative for conventional fuels because it does not produce any particulate matter and toxic gases such as NOx at combustion when used as a fuel, and also high cetane number. Currently, DME is commercially produced in an adiabatic reactor by methanol dehydration. This process consists of an adiabatic fixed bed reactor and distillation section for purification of produced DME (part of this sentence is not the same as the Farsi abstract). In this paper methanol dehydration process is simulated using Hysys simulator software at steady state condition. Also, methanol and DME mole fraction and temperature profile along the reactor is obtained. (THIS SENTENCE IS NOT IN THE FARSI TEXT OR I COULD NOT FIND IT.)
