Modeling, Simulation TAME Production by Using Reactive Distillation Technology with ASPEN Plus Software

Reactive Distillation is an old operation in which physical separation process is mixed with chemical reaction in a chemical unit. The operation combines a reactor inside a fractionator. This process can be used for equilibrium and non-equilibrium reactions. The advantages of the reactive distillation compared to ordinary process, are increasing the efficiency of reaction, lowering side reactions, increasing product purity and reducing operating costs. In this paper, the TAME production process has been modeled using equilibrium model and the kinetic of reaction on each stage has been calculated with FORTRAN subroutine and linked to ASPEN Plus simulation software. Then the results of simulation were compared with experimental studies of several researchers including those of Sundmacher and an acceptable accordance was reached.
