The exhaust gas stream from the isomerization unit of Tehran Refinery contains considerable amounts of propane, butane and hydrogen. With respect to the relatively high flow rate of this stream, one can consider design of a complementary process in order to recover these compounds and prevent their loss. In this paper, pressure swing adsorption method and hybrid process are studied, and in addition to simulation and primary economic estimation, the most appropriate design has been chosen and proposed. The simulation results indicate that the hybrid process is better for achieving higher purity and reducing the propane loss, but with considering the economical concerns and recovery value, the PSA process would be the most suitable method for separation.
