Today the amount of information and knowledge a country possesses is inevitably considered as a source of power for that country. The individuals of a society, especially those who have an important role in the development of the society, should be educated to know what information is, what value it has in development, how it can be accessed and used efficiently. Information literacy is the ability to appropriately identify information resources, the ability to access them and the ability to use them purposefully. As a growing number of virtual universities are appearing and universities are providing distance education, the userʹs enthusiasm to access electronic resources is also expanding. The cooperation of librarians with professors of virtual universities is much more necessary than before and librarians should know that the World Wide Web is their new working area. In this research, using the standards for information literacy, we study the information literacy of students taking e-courses in Shiraz University. Results indicate that the information literacy of these students is not at a desirable level. Therefore, some solutions were proposed i.e. developing virtual education on information literacy and providing a course on information literacy, especially for e-students.
