One of simple methods for corrosion and scaling evaluation in water is using indexes such as Ryznar (RI), Langlier Saturation Index (LSI), Pokorious (PI) [Puckorius Scaling Index (PSI)] , Driving Force and so on. This study has been conducted to determine the chemical qualitative parameters of water input and evaluation of corrosivity or scaling condition of water supplying resources of the refinery and the city of Bandar Abbas. Parameters such as pH, Alkalinity, Total Hardness, Total Dissolved Solids (TDS), sulphate, chloride and so on were tested based on standard methods of examination for water parameters and corrosion evaluated by indices such as LSI, RI and PL Principal Component and Cluster Analysis methods and the Mini tab software have been used for statistical analysis. The results showed that most parameters related to chemical quality of Bandar Abbas drinking water met national standards except for TDS that was above the standard level. Parameters of produced water in refinery were commensurate to standards except for fluoride which was zero.The water produced by mixing drinking water of Bandar Abbas and fresh water of refinery met the standards. Based on study results, waters had acceptable quality except two parameters of TDS and fluoride. These two parameters in mixing water of refinery are also acceptable.
According to statistical analysis, the effective agent was chloride in the Iranian months of Khordad, Tir and Mordad and calcium, bicarbonate and alkanility in the month of Shahrivar, Mehr and Azar.
Based on the corrosion indices calculations, the three water samples (water of Bandar Abbas, water produced by the refinery and city water mixed with refinery water) were corrosive.
The water entering the refinery, produced in the refinery and of See-Hektary, Koy-e Mellat and Daneshgah districts have a higher corrosive potential. Therefore, it is necessary to take controlling measures such as constant refining, using corrosion control products and suitable coating for the pipes.
