The Validity and Reliability of Persian Version of Perception of Success Questionnaires for Children and Adults

The purpose of this study was to determine the validity and reliability of perception of success questionnaires for children (under 15 years) and adults (above 15 years). To do this, 1200 subjects (600 male and female athletes with 11-15 years and 600 male and female athletes with 15-30 years) were randomly selected. Data were collected by perception of success questionnaires (POSQ) for children and adults (Roberts, and et al. 1998). Principal component analysis was used to compute exploratory factor analysis, structural equation model was used to compute confirmatory factor analysis and cronbach alpha was used to compute internal consistency and test-retest Reliability. The results show that Perception of Success Questionnaires for children and adults with two factors (ego orientation and task orientation) had relatively acceptable structure validity and good internal consistency and reliability. So, it could be concluded that Persian version of perception of success questionnaires for children and adults have validity and reliability for studying students and athletesʹ perception of success and goal orientation in educational and sports settings.
