Effect of Aging Temperature on Tribological Behavior of Ni-Rich TWNi Alloys under Different loads

In this research, the effects of heat treatments and applied loads on the tribological behavior of the a Ti-56.5wt%.fti and Ti-57.5wt%.rii alloys were investigated. The alloys were aged at temperatures of 400°C and ʹ3 700°C for one hour after solution annealing at 1000°C and then were quenched in ice- water. Sliding wear tests were performed using a pin-on-disk wear tester. Wear surfaces were examined using a scanning electron microscope. 3 Results indicated that the wear of the samples aged at 400°C decreased with the increase of load. However, the wear of the samples aged at 700°C increased with the increase of load. These could be due to the hardness of the 13 surfaces and the formation of tribological layers on the contacting surfaces.
