A Critical Evaluation of Research and Available Records on Unemployment of University Graduates in Iran

This paper is part of a university research titled: "The Need Analysis of the Labor Market and its Relationship with the Employment of University Graduates; a case study in Shiraz." The article has considered the relation between formal academic system (content of university courses and the quality of academic system) and the rate of unemployment among the university graduates in Iran by critical evaluation of available research and records on unemployment among university graduates. The purpose of the research is considering the limitations of employment for university graduates (with emphasis on university training) and identifying its relations with structure and efficiency of state economic-social development and also structure of unjust social associations and relationships. Therefore, we have composed theoretical framework which has been inspired by John Deweyʹs theory in education and Dr. Seifollahiʹs paradigm in state economic-social development and also a view of deceased Dr. Azimiʹs in the economic field. This framework tries to explain real truths and facts of society faraway from any prejudgment. The finding of research shows that unemployment among the graduates in Iran is too high due to the lack of correlation between university studies and labor market.
