This article is written based on results of the research named «study of value trend of Islamic Azad university students, region four ».The theoretical base of the research consists of «Pattern Variables» a concept by an American sociologist, Parsons, which included some variables such as neutrality-affectivity, specificity-diffusion,universalism-particularism, accomplishment-quality.
The sample consisted of 165 female students and 245 male students , aged between 18-24 who were studying in B.A./B.S. Universities which were selected are as follows: Khorasgan , Najaf Abad , Khomeini Shahr, Kashan, Shahreza, Mobarakeh , Yazd and Shahr-e-kord. The sampling method was stratified random. In addition to studying pattern variables, possible relations between these variables and other variables like gender, years spent in university and educational group were also studied. After indexing pattern variables, questionnaires with eighteen closed questions were used to collect data. The questionnaire consisted of 18 statements and 3 questions about individual and educational characteristics.
In statistical analysis of data, statistical tests like weighted mean, t-test, oneway analysis of variance and Scheffe test, were used. The results suggested that students, value trend were neutrality, accomplishment, diffusion and universalism. Female students in comparison to male students had value trend towards particularism ( p < 0 •05 ʹt = 2 •072 ) and accomplishment (p < 005, t = 3915). The years spent in university didnʹt have a significant correlation with value trend. Human science students were more neutral than technical and engineering students (Sig = 0m1 MD = 124) and science students were more directed to specificity compared to technical and engineering students(Sig = °-03 >MD = - 0.68 ).
