Analysis of some terminologies in Tarikh-e Bayhagi

There are some terms prevalent in various Khorasani dialects, which can help solving language related problems in the interpretation of some literary texts. In the previous works of art; namely, Tarikh-e Bayhagi there are certain phrases whose meanings are clear to most Khorasani people, while in most cases, the type of semantic interpretations given in various notes lead to misunderstanding and ambiguity. In the notes on Tarikh-e Bayhagi and also in some supposedly reliable Persian dictionaries, there are contradictory remarks and inconsistencies in the proposed definitions of some terms, which can be removed provided that these dialects are considered. This article is a contrastive analysis of certain terms used in the expository notes on Tarikh-e Bayhagi and in some old dictionaries with their present meanings in various Khorasani dialects. Furthermore, attempts have been made to provide suitable equivalents for them in Persian.
