In this paper we introduce software costing and some methods for that. Then, we try to criticize these methods and explore the advantages and disadvantages of them. For more understanding, in this paper one of the most popular methods- COCOMO-will be discussed. For this reason we apply the case of Hamkaran-System- one of Iranian leaders in this issue.
