Validity and Reliability of Self- Confidence Questionaire for Iranian Athlets

The purpose of the present investigation was to study the validity and reliability of Sources of Sport-Confidence Questionnaire (SSCQ) in Iranian athletes. 311 participants (208 males, 103 females) for exploratory factor analysis, 300 participants (205 males, 95 females) for confirmatory factor analysis and internal consistency and 100 participants (65 males, 35 females) for time stability of the questionnaire were selected through cluster random sampling method among elite and non-elite athletes. The instrument was SSCQ that was developed and validated by Vealey and her colleagues (1998) . Principal component analysis was used to compute exploratory factor analysis, structural equations model was used to compute confirmatory factor analysis, Cronbach alpha was used to compute internal consistency and intraclass correlation was used to compute stability over time. The results showed that the SSCQ with seven confidence sources and 35 items had acceptable structure validity, good internal consistency, and stability. In conclusion, the Persian version of SSCQ is applicable in sport settings to determine sport confidence factors of athletes by psychologists and coaches to plan intervention programs according to athletesʹ needs.
