Hambaali, the Iranian Style of Leadership

Emphasizing on the differences put forth between leadership and management, this article deals with the formation of a new language in the science of management and looks at metaphor as the main tool for this linguistic development. After having reviewed the elements of organization, leadership with its various metaphors is discussed. Leaders fall into three categories: epical, historical and mystical. Then with an eye on Gadamer’s approach, the amalgamation of horizons, the three presuppositions of the researches, Manteq-o-Teyr as a text and the theoretical framework based on the 10 managerial theories will be combined, so that the principles of hambaali are established. Hambaali leadership is a style of leadership that takes advantage of the role of hoopoe, known as the bird of Solomon, in inviting, briefing and leading the other birds to reach the truth known as phoenix and gives an account of the leadership process. This analysis is done through the verses of Attar’s Manteq-o-Teyr and this kind of leadership is based in the 21 principles that the rest of the article will deal with.
