Effect of Apistan on Beehives Infected by Varroa Mite in Tabriz

Azarbaijan Province with suitable climatic condition and rich vegetation cover is one of the most important centers for honeybee breeding. Varroasis is highly incidented in this region. Varroa mite is the most important I frequent pest found in honeybee and by feeding of their haemolymph and honey production prevents of growth and augmentation of them and causes irreparable losses to apiaries. Because of Varroa infestation distribution in Azarbaijan beehives and unhappiness of beehive keepers from the rate of drug effect and using old and new other drugs that cause adverse effects and irregular consume of Apistan drug, there are many reports of drug resistances. The aim of this study was to determine the effect of Apistan on beehives infected by Varroa mite in Tabriz. In order to examine Apistan drug against this disease, ten apiaries from Tabriz soround apiaries were selected in spring and summer 1378, and from each 5 infected beehives were studied. From each beehive, 100 honeybee before and after treatment, were tested for diagnosis of Varroa infestation. Apistan significantly decreased (p<0.05) in Varroa mite population following treatment compared with pretreatment. Results showed that 22 beehives after j treatment had not any Varroa, 14 beehives had only 1 mite, 1 10 beehives had 2 varroa, and 4 beehives had 3 mites. 702 and 46 mites were separated before and after treatment respectively. The effective rate of apistan drug 93.4% were j distinguished that showed the effective of Apistan to treat Varroasis. No drug resistance was observed in infected beehives.
