An Analysis of the Position of the Geography Science in Iran

With regard to the recent developments in different fields at the global scale, the educational programs in Iran must be directed in such a way that through developing and directing the teaching of geography in universities, the real place of geography in land planning and preparing the living places for human beings and providing prosperity for different groups of people are accompanied by its position as a science. The findings of the studies show that geography in Iran, specifically following the victory of the Islamic revolution, has been set to an appropriate path due to its applied features in various programs in the related departments and administrative organizations. However, there are many problems and barriers concerning the teaching of geography and its syllabuses. In addition, some legal hindrances exist in the way of utilizing the capacities of this science, for the elimination of which efforts must be made. Then one can be in the hope of thinking of geography as a more applied science and helping the consistent development.
