In this study the new suture pattern compared with continues horizontal mattress suture by histopathologic evaluation. In 8 New Zealand white rabbits weighing 2-3 Kg weight, both sides of spinal cord, shaved and disinfected for surgery. 10X1 cm flaps of skin in both sides removed and one side sutured by new pattern and the other side sutured by continues horizontal mattress pattern. Then in 1, 3, 7,10,14,21 days after surgery 2X2 cm pieces of surgical area took for histopathology observations and measured by standard healing factors. Measurement results analyzed with Mann-Whitney U test (P<0.05).
Results showed no significant diference in histopathology, but in performing 10 cm new suture pattern significantly consumed less time than routine pattern. Plus in consumption of materials, results illustrated that routine method was taken less material to perform 10 cm suture.
With some of these results and privileges it is assumed for new pattern, like enhanced security, easy to perform and suture removal is faster and easier, new suture pattern suggest for skin sutures. Vet.J.of Islamic.Azad.Univ., Garmsar Branch. 4,1:7-11,2008.
