Effect of Increasing prepartum Dietary protein level on Reproductive Performance of Holstein Dairy cows

In this study compared effects of two levels of crude protein (CP) diets during late gestation on the reproductive parameters of Holstein cows. Twenty- one multiparous cows 26± 6 d before calving were assigned to two treatment diets in a randomized block design to evaluate effects of two diets: 14 and 16 % crude protein.. Diets were formulated to contain (on a DM basis) 34% alfalfa, 33% corn silage and 33% concentrate. All cows were fed similar postpartum diets through wk 3 of lactation, reproductive parameters were not influenced by prepartum crude protein level.
