Shahidi Qumiʹs Biography and Poetry Style

Shahidi of Qum (d.935 A.H / 1528-29) was a poet at the court of Sultan Yaʹqub (d.896 A.H /1490-91 A.D).After his patronʹs death, he went to India and traveled across Gujrat and the Deccan. Finally, he died in Gujrat. Probably, he is a pioneer of Incidentalist School that emerged in persian poetry in the first quarter of the 10th century (A.H) and re-enlivening Ghazal from Itʹs prosaic and lifeless state in the 9th century. The essential weak point of Sahidiʹs poem such as other poets of Incidentalist School is the lack of poetical images. This article is trying to demonstrate that shahidi is pioneer of Incidentalist School.
