Unwanted pregnancy is one of the most crucial hygienic and social issues in family planning. Unwanted pregnancy is posed as a social health index. Increasing the preva¬lence of illegal abortion. This, for sure, induced several complication. Determining the prevalence and related causes of unwanted pregnancy are the basis for planning to reduce it. This is a cross sectional study carried out in 1384. It scopes on causes of unwanted pregnancy in 500 women hospitalized for pregnancy, Delivery or cartage. Question¬naire and interview were performed to collect data. The results were gathered by the use of SPSS software and were placed in statistical charts. 184(37%) of subject were impregnated unwantedly, the lowest rate of unwanted preg¬nancy is attributed to 25 minus age group (19.1). On the other hand, the highest rate is for 38 plus age group (46.3%). The largest proportion of unwanted pregnancy was de¬tected in illiterate women (45.6%) and the lowest percentage of unwanted pregnancy was seen in bachelor-holder and more educated ones (17%). The most important rea¬sons for unwanted pregnancy according to women opinion are economic and financial problems (45%). Number of children (21.5%) having infant (12.5%) misbehavior of children or motherʹs diseases (8%) and the remaining 13% are for other causes. Illiteracy, Poverty and large number of kids are the main causes of pregnancy .This are the indicative of a need for truly efficient public awareness on a large scale.
