THE FIRST GRAMMATICAL POEM IN ARABIC LITERATURE

The grammatical poems have special place in Arabic literature and teaching grammar (nahw). The most famous of these poms is the Alfiyya of Ibn Malik (d.672/1274). Before Ibn Malik the grammatical poems of Yashkori(d.370/980); Hariri (d.576/1122) and Ibn Mo ti (d.628/1230) were known. They composed their didactic poems on Arabic grammar. But the first tical poem was for Khalil ibn Ahmad (d. 170/786) about 293 lines. This paper explains the attributions of that.
