Evaluation of Urethral and Bladder Injuries in Pelvic Fractures

bladder and urethral injuries are disturbingly uncommon squeal of pelvic fracture. They are overwhelmingly associated with bilateral pubic rami fractures.In a number of patients, bladder rupture occurs in association with urethral rupture.The purpose of this study is to have a virtual conception of the prevalence of these injuries in pelvic fractures.This is a cross-sectional study. Our cases were selected from the traumatic patients who referred to Mashhad Trauma Center (Emdady Hospital). We carried out some evaluations such as urinalysis, ultrasonography, retrgrade cystography, retrograde urethrography and CT Scan. Having collected and classified the information obtained through some questionnaires, we then analyzed the data, using SPSS program.We reported 129 cases of pelvic fractures associated with vesicourethral ruptures. 118 patients (91.57.) were reported to have no rupture in either bladder or urethra. 6 (4.77.) had bladder rupture, 4 (3.17) had urethral rupture and 1 (0.87) had both bladder and urethral rupture.Our study demonstrates that 8.57 of the patients with pelvic fracture have lower genitourinary injuries. So, it is necessary to consider bladder and urethral injuries in pelvic fractures and perform the most appropriate diagnostic and therapeutic interventions in cases of such injuries.
