Cinema as a social phenomenon is being changed, in its all dimensions, under the effects of social changes. War film is a genre in Iran which is emerged after the Islamic Revolution, especially the war between Iran and Iraq. Narratives of war film contain either war event or the evidence caused by the war.This article is taken from the study I did by the guidance of Dr.S.Seyfollahi. The study is made by using the documentary research method and is a "qualitative study". Techniques of Narrative analysis are used to analyze the films .The main approaches is Structuralism and Semiotics (de saussure) and Binary Oppositions of Levi Strauss, especially used. Twelve war films were selected in accordance with the rate of selling on box offices and the critics, done by the specialists. Then each film was studied as a text and its index and specialties were compared with those of other films.
The article presumes that three Narrative structures, "Ideal - propagandistic ", "critical" and "Romantic" are the main plots of the films. The major subject of war films in each period, are formed by any one of these plots. During war period (1360-1367) the films were "ideal _ propagandistic" because of war conditions. In the post war period - construction- (1367-1376) the directors criticized the social conditions which were getting far from the revolutions outset ideals, because of the changes made in values. In the first four years of "Reforms Period "and because of the quiet open political - cultural situations , war films by the Romantic contents - love relations between girls and boys -are produced by the film makers.
