Public imagination and vision about criminal and delinquency gangs, to a high extent, depends on the information offered by legal authorities, and the result of the reinforcement of the information is seen in the press. However, the recent researches on young felons raise questions in relation with the accuracy of the imaginations.
Nevertheless, the increase in the number of researches indicates that stereotyped beliefs about young felons are in conflict with the result of the researches; and lack of accuracy of assumptions usually exists. Having examined all the articles concerning delinquency published in three wide-circulated national newspapers during 1980 to 2006, one can conclude that there is a high tendency to maintain stereotyped thought in defining felon groups, and members of gangs and lack of understanding young felon groups. Even without the media exaggeration in displaying their characteristics, violence and organized works are associated with ambiguity.
