Investigating the Relationship of Piety and Death Anxiety among Seminary and University Students in Qom City

The present study deals with an investigation of the relationship between attachment to God and level of death anxiety among students of Qom seminary and Islamic Azad University. To conduct the study, 342 students of both centers were selected through cluster random sampling. After conducting the tests of attachment to God (Rwat and Kirkpatrick, 2002) and death anxiety (Templer, 1970), the obtained result showed that death anxiety had a meaningful negative relationship with safe attachment to God, and that death anxiety was reduced with an increase in safe attachment to God. Conversely, there was a meaningful positive relationship between the attachment to God of avoiding and mutual type and death anxiety. Therefore, it may be claimed that safe attachment to God is effective in controlling some mental problems such as death anxiety and those diseases related to it anyway.
