The Qurans of the Ayatollah Marashi Najafi library ( First to Sixth Centuries of the Islamic Eras)

Ayatollah Marashi, one of the religious clergymen and pious guiders in the recent century, commenced in collecting and maintaining manuscripts even from his formative years since he was aware of the historical and cultural heritage concealed within these magnificent scripts. He then established a library which today is one of the major collections of the Islamic world. Today, the Aytollah Marashi Najafi library has become a major gathering of manuscripts from various centuries; perhaps the most significant manuscripts are related to the Quranic scripts. In this essay, the calligraphy and method of writing of the first six centuries of Islam and the applied page ornamentations will be focal point; in addition, the Quranic manuscripts of the mentioned centuries preserved in this library will be elaborated.
