Discrepancies and Similarities in Iran and Ottoman Empireʹs Experience of Parliament

The Constitution revolution was a point of departure in both Iran and Ottoman Empireʹs history. It happened as a consequence of certain political and social crises that overwhelmingly caught on both countries. The emergency for a government based on canonic regulations, forced both Iran Qajars and Ottoman sultanate to attempt some reform projects. These attempts in both contexts had some consequences that by themselves paved way for the constitution of parliament (Majles). A regard on the history of parliament in both Iran and Ottoman Empire shows that there are more common aspects and parallelism rather than discrepancy. In other words it might say that these two societies, especially in constitutional affairs experienced some rather common ways and attitudes toward modernization
