The Principle of Supporting the Oppressed in Islamic Governmentʹs Foreign Relations

From Islamic viewpoint, power and the ruling system, are tools to implement justice and eliminate tyranny, therefore, an Islamic government should regulate its foreign relations with governments and nations based on justice and anti-oppression stating support for the oppressed among its foreign policies. Its importance and special position in foreign policy can be understood by browsing through the Qoranic verses and ahadith in this regard. Other issues such as "taʹlife golob" which is aimed at elimination of intellectual oppression and helping the oppressed is also utilized. Paying attention to Muslims is a priority and the principle of "Nafye Sabil" is also brought up in this regard which implies that the atheists should not dominate Muslims. Islamic republic of Iran has brought up and emphasized the support for the oppressed in various codes of its constitution. Imam Khomeini believed that creating a front for the oppressed is one of indisputable principles in foreign policy and is the best method to oppose the arrogant powers in the world.
