The Chinese Defense and Security Strategy; Elements and Trends

Understanding performance of political actors is subject to considering their elements of policies at several levels. Changes in nature and trends of the Chinese foreign policy which is of a special geo-political as well as geo- strategic significance have been an interesting issue of study for many analysts of International Relations. Based on level of analysis, we can discuss the main effective elements in Chinese policy making and strategy adoption. Elements rooted in domestic or national environment and also those elements of regional and extra-regional root have led the Chinese strategists toward a long-term strategy of so called "Great Leap Forward" and implementation of rationalistic strategies. Therefore, studying Chinese policies in the framework of domestic economic reforms and with regard to regional and extra-regional environments and also its interaction and partnership approach indicates very important element of the Chinese grand strategy and thus echoes Chinese security and defense strategy.
