Continued Occupation Through Settlement: The Nature of Zionist Regime

Jerusalem has recently suggested that the Jerusalem municipality would construct 50,000 new houses in the city according to a 10-year plan. Such suggestions and those of Benjamin Netanyahu have led to some controversies between the Israeli and U.S. leaders. Reviewing the history of building settlements by Israel, this paper seeks to demonstrate that settlement is part of the nature of the Zionist regime and the Israeli leaders will become happy with the construction of settlements even though this might bring the peace initiatives into failure. Hence, it can be analyzed within the framework of Israelʹs grand strategy. The author intends to examine the settlement plan in Jerusalem before and after the formation of the Zionist regime particularly after it occupied the East Jerusalem.
