Versailles Peace Conference and Iranian Irredentist Claims: The Case of Trans-Araxes Regions

با پايان يافتن جنگ جهاني اول و زمزمه تشكيل كنفرانس صلح ورساي، كشورهاي ضعيفي مانند ايران كه با وجود بي‌طرفي عرصه تاخت و تاز نيروهاي متفق و متحد قرار گرفته بودند، اميدوار شدند درخواست‌هاي خود را در اين كنفرانس مطرح سازند. شاهزاده نصرت‌الدوله فيروز، وزير خارجه ايران در يادداشت مفصلي، ادعاها و خواست‌هاي ايران درباره بازگرداندن سرزمين‌هاي از‌دست‌رفته در ابتداي قرن نوزدهم ميلادي و تعيين و اصلاح مرزها به‌ويژه اراضي ايراني شمال رود ارس را ارايه داد اما وزارت خارجه انگلستان زير بار تقاضاهاي فيروز نرفت. اين پژوهش سر آن دارد كه چگونگي تلاش ايران را دراين‌باره بررسي كند.

By finishing World War I, and on the cvc of Versailles pcacc confcrcncc, some countries, such as Iran which despite their formal declaration of neutrality, suffered a compulsory occupation by bolh the Ententes and the Central Powers, were hopeful to claim their own litigations and demands in this conference. Prince Nosiat-o Dowleh-ye Firouz, an Iranian prominent political figure of that time who was in charge of Iranʹs officc of foreign affairs, illustrates the Iranian irredentist claims and demands comprehensively as a dispatch note in this conference. Among those, there were in particular some articles called for a legal restoration of tians-Araxes Iranian lands which Qajar dynasty at the beginning of 19th century had lost to Russia. However, Lord Curzon, the English foreign secretary of that time did not agree with this policy. This paper aims to give a brief survey of Iranʹs foreign policy during this historical situation and present its results.
