Estimation of Natural Dyes Concentration by Scanner

The insoluble particle in natural dye solution caused high error in evaluation concentration of natural dye solutions by UV-visible spectroscopy method. In this work, the concentration of natural dyes such as prangos-ferulacea, madder and pomegranate was estimated by means of scanner. In new method, the polynomial regression was used to convert scannerʹs RGB values into natural dyes concentration. The accuracy of prediction is improved by applying several filters such as sinusoidal and cube root on scanner RGB. Obtained results indicate that the accuracy of prediction in scanner method is better than normal spectroscopy based on Beer-Lambertʹs law.
