International Bans and Formation of Destructive Movements: the Case of Iran

One of the main aims of economic bans is to leave impression on target society via economic pressures, and then bringing discontent among the people. In this research we want to examine the degree of influences that economic bans leave on formation of destructive movements. Appealing to Gurrʹs theory of relative deprivation, authors has tried to examine the role of economic bans in formation of social movements, and the ways and channels of possible impacts of economic bans on protest movements in Iran. The results show that despite the influence of economic bans on degree of investment and production, increase in the rate of inflation and unemployment, and consequently existence of relative deprivation signs, Islamic Republic of Iran has been succeed in using the religious believes and nationalistic passions to protect the autonomy and peaceful atomic program against U. S. policies. Spread participation of people in formal elections has showed that they prefer to make change the situation through legal and legitimate ways. But in the future, with increasing of expectations and decreasing of facilities, and consequently with the deployment of dissatisfactions, the situation would be different.
