Developmental Stuttering and Linguistic Factors

Developmental stuttering is a fluency disorder which occurs when the forward flow of speech is interrupted improperly by the repetition or the prolongation of a sound, syllable, or word. There are many hypotheses about the possible causes of developmental stuttering. This study discusses the etiology of this speech disorder, placing special emphasis on psycho- linguistic factors. The aim of this study is to provide new information on the issue in order to contribute to development of treatment methods.
