Simplicity of Necessary Being in Avicennaʹs Philosophy

Simplicity of the essence of necessary being, referred to as such in philosophy and called ʹabsolute unityʹ in theology, is among important discussions in theology per se. the present article claims a negation of composition in divine essence, especially its being composed of external elements including quantitative elements as well as matter and form, and elements of limitation. This is proved by explaining Avicennaʹs arguments. The research method in the present study is descriptive based on Avicennaʹs works and sometimes those of his expositors. Avicenna puts forward three reasons to prove his claim. In one of them, he negates external elements, and in the two others, the elements of limitation and essence in necessary being are negated; thus, various types of compositions are negated through this negation.
